Description

Paediatric First Aid -1 Day

The 1 Day Emergency Paediatric First Aid 1 day training course is available at your setting for groups of up to 12.

Assessment & certification

Students are independently examined on the final afternoon of the course. Upon successful completion certification is valid for three years. Please note that candidates attending this course must be in possession of a valid (not out of date by more than 28 days) First Aid at Work certificate.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for some individuals who care for young children in the absence of their parents.
This includes Nursery Staff, Nannies, Au Pairs, or parents wanting to learn lifesaving skills.

A full 2 day course is available for those that require this to meet the requirements of the EYFS, Ofsted and the settings own Risk Assessment.

The course includes both theory and practical sessions. This one day (6 hour) course can delivered at your venue and can be run at the weekend by arrangement.

What the Paediatric First Aid course covers

The required syllabus:

  1. Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
  2. Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
  3. Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
  4. Help a baby or child who is having a seizure
  5. Help a baby or child who is choking
  6. Help a baby or child who is bleeding
  7. Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)

Additional elements covered:

8. Help a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock

9. Help a baby or child who has had an electric shock

10. Help a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries

11. Help a baby or child having: a diabetic emergency; an asthma attack; an allergic reaction
